EWP 2-5-B Yr 1928 Lenah Protests Closing The resolution passed by the Lenah Community League on February 20th, 1928, regarding the closure of Lenah School by the School Board reflects the community's strong opposition to this decision. The resolution, supported by numerous taxpayers and patrons of the school, not only criticized the Board's action as detrimental to the community and the students, but also urged the Board to reconsider its decision. The involvement of the Arcola Community League in potentially concurring with this resolution indicates a broader community effort to challenge the closure of Lenah School. The list of signatories, including prominent local individuals, highlights the widespread opposition to the School Board's decision and the united front put forth by the community in advocating for the school's preservation.

EWP 2-5-B Yr 1930 Waterford Protest that Waterford will not be an accredited High school At a meeting of the citizens of Waterford, Va. and community, on March 13, 1930 called for the purpose of discussing the proposed changes contemplated being made in our schools of Loudoun County, after receiving a copy of the recommendations from the County Survey Committee, the following Committee was appointed to act in behalf of the Waterford High School as they may deem fit. Rev. John A. Bowman, Talbot E. Pierce, William S. Smoot, Douglas N. Myers, W.I. Mann, James Carr. C.N. Mason, R.E. McCarty, Frederick Stabler, immediately after the adjournment of this meeting the above named Committee met and formulated the following appeal to the School Board of Loudoun County, at its meeting to be held on March 18, 1930 in the School Auditorium at Leesburg, Va. (1) We respectfully appeal to you to keep the Waterford High School on the accredited list of high schools. Here is a good school, fully equipped and serving well a rural community, which enjoys none too many advantages. It would be a step backward in education to take away a high school that has been established over twenty years and deprive the pupils of the advantages they are entitled to have, and for which we pay taxes. Gov. Pollard recently said "Education is the foundation of the whole state, to be exercised for the benefit of all children within its borders. The Waterford High School is not to blame for having under thirty-five pupils this year. We now have an excellent Principal and good teachers. We have reasons to know that if allowed to continue as at present, we will have the allotted number of pupils for the school term 1930-31, (2) We suggest a zone system and recommend that children in these zones attend their respective schools. (3) We are opposed to the consolidation of schools, and bus transportation as morally detrimental to the children of any community But in event consolidation of smaller schools is more fully carried out. we urge that the schools at Wheatland, Paeonian Springs and Clarks Gap, be consolidated with the Waterford school. (8) For the educational benefits of Loudoun and its present and future welfare we are unanimously opposed to the practice of employing an itinerant teacher. Respectfully submitted. Rev. John A. Bowman, W.S. Smoot, ( (Committee) W.I. Mann, C.N. Mason, R.E McCarty, Fredk. Stabler, Talbot E. Pierce, Douglas N. Myers, James Carr.

EWP 2-5-B Yr 1924 25 Daysville Protests Closing The Daysville school community petitioned the Loudoun County School Board to reconsider the closure of Daysville School for the term of 1924-1925. They argue that the small enrollment in the previous term was not indicative of lack of interest, but rather a temporary circumstance. They highlight the importance of having a school in Daysville for the local children and compare attendance rates with other schools in the area. The petitioners request that the school not be closed without proper cause.
