To Waterford Petitioners Requesting
Removal of Miss Baber as Teacher:
In reference to your request we wish to state that we have made an investigation in person by talking to eight of the eleven who signed the petition. The reasons for the request were not stated in the petition. The reasons given us orally have not seemed to us of a character or seriousness to warrant the removal of Miss Baber, in fact, they were for the most part of a nature that would be advanced in case of agitation of the question by a few patrons against most any teacher who is trying to do her duty in maintaining order and requiring good lessons.
It can be expected that at the next meeting of the county board on December 9th we shall recommend that the request for Miss Baber's removal be not granted.

Dear Sir.--Yours of the 18th regarding removal of Miss. Baber, desire to state that I have written Miss. Baber an apology, believing I were misled in so doing, and ask that my name be scratched off the dirty sheet, and oblige.

1. Mrs C. B. James. Mr. James signed acct of itch. She refused. Mr said last night “sorry signed.” Mr Steele said had seen doctor who said it would spread. Children learned more that under former teachers.
2. Mrs Luther (Marie) Brown No real or serious objection. Satisfied if Miss Baber continue. Signed to get Miss Kelly if change made.

3. Alfred Dulin-Signed personally on account of representations by clothes and for sake of community.
4 Will Peacock-Child afraid of and does not like teacher. Thinks lessons too long. Signed under protest that did not like to do it and thinking would be signed by about all patrons. Willing to have Miss Baber continue.
5. McKenny-Keeping in after school. Not serious objection.

6. Hickam-Too [illegible] not looking after them an afternoon. Kept out in wet.

To the School Board of Loudoun County,
Gentlemen–
We, the undersigned patrons of the Waterford High School have found if necessary to ask for the removal of Miss Baber from this school. And for reasons that we would rather not state if avoidable. But if not, then we are willing to state facts in the case but would rather not cause any more publicity then we can possibly help on her account.
And we further petition that [unreadable] Miss Louise McGavock in her place as she has said she would accept the position if tendered her, and we hope that you will consider this matter and give us a change at once.
